Dear Friend,
Its been a while since I have been watching you. The other day I saw you laughing and walking back home with your friends, I called out but I guess you did not hear me so you just walked on. later that night I painted a beautiful sunset to end your day and a blew a cool breeze to refresh you, but you were to tired to realise this so you just fell asleep so I had to watch you sleep- I really needed to talk to you.

So I exploded a beautiful sunrise to start your day, but you woke up late and hurried off to class. You didn’t even notice- how i wanted to speak with you. In the middle of th day, you seemed to look towards me but the chattering of you friend drew your attention away.

Time and time again I kept seeking to get your attention with no success what so ever. so this time I called out your name in the thunders of the great waterfalls, I whispered your name in the silent rush of the streams, I even screamed out loud on the high mountain tops and most of all I composed love songs for birds to sing to you- How I really wanted to be with you.

All this, for time, has been going unnoticed, but I won’t give up- I will do what ever it takes to be with you. I have done the extreme already so a few more minor trials won’t hurt- If only you knew how much I wanted to be with you.

My father sends his regards,I don’t know why, but I guess fathers are just that way. I have told him so much about you and he too can’t wait to see you.

So dear friend, I am hoping the next time i call out to you, you will hear me, but if you don’t, I will wait, and no matter how long it takes, I will wait- because I love you.

Your friend,

Jesus

Yeast and Bread… Say what???

Prayer : Daddy as I read your word today reveal yourself to me 🙂

Result: Yeast and Bread

Mark 8:15
Be careful Jesus warned them. “watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod”

Yeast is used in baking bread to make it rise. It can be said that yeast feeds the bread i.e the type of yeast you use and the way it is handled determines whether the bread rises or falls flat (Thanks wiki for this 😉 ).

In this passage the yeast of the Pharisees refers to the contaminated practices which is put into the word (the bread) by the Pharisees. Jesus is warning his disciples to avoid this and also the followers of Herod who walk contrary to will of God.

Remember Jesus said that he is the bread of life (John 6:35) i.e the word that brings life. Therefore any bread (word) that has been contaminated by bad yeast (the yeast of the Pharisees) only brings death.

So also in your daily lives, avoid any YEAST that can contaminate the BREAD you feed on 🙂

Have a blessed day!!!

How much do I honestly love people??? Hmmm I wonder…

love

‘Will you love me as I am, even if I don’t fit your mould and change as quickly as you’d like me to?’

I had a conversation with a friend about relationships a while back and his opinion has bugged me ever since, hence me writing this. I believe his answer to the question above would be no (as a generic answer for human kind) and this troubles me. Not because I don’t believe him but because I do. So many times we play around with the word love (points in example: lotsa love at the end of notes, texts, cards etc; you know se I love you- on FB or when we want something; *the big one* I love you – at the end of phone calls, as a random text, mid sentence etc) but how often do we really mean it.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

Yet I wonder ‘Will you love me as I am, even if I don’t fit your mould and change as quickly as you’d like me to?’

We are to love our neighbour as we love ourself (Matthew 22:39) This is rather interesting because it means that if I love when people do impulsive things I like for me then in love I should do impulsive things for people that they like. On a similar note if I wouldn’t go out of my way to hurt myself I should not go out of my way to hurt someone I say I love. Above all in loving others like ourselves, the love should run deep as love covers a multitude of sins(1 Peter 4:8).

Yet I wonder ‘Will you love me as I am, even if I don’t fit your mould and change as quickly as you’d like me to?’

Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. when we love each other, it shows that we have been given new life. We are now God’s children, and we know him (1 Jn 4:7) In this love we are able to sustain relationships and friendships that are sweeter than the sweet smell of incense (Proverbs 27:9).

Yet I wonder ‘Will you love me as I am, even if I don’t fit your mould and change as quickly as you’d like me to?’

Interestingly hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs. (Proverbs 10:12) Meaning that if we say we love each other then our wrongs are not a cause to end our relationship. Instead the love in us will transcend the wrongs in us and in our love we will work through the wrongs. The bible says a friend loves at all times(Proverbs 17:17 ). Not sometimes, not most times but all times. So even when I take the remote control to watch Grey’s anatomy and you are watching the world cup (I really shouldn’t do that should I hehe) a friend still loves. Even if I do not call for 4 years (not excusable by the way 🙂 ) a friend still loves. So basically no matter how many times I may get it wrong.. A friend still loves..

Yet I wonder ‘Will you love me as I am, even if I don’t fit your mould and change as quickly as you’d like me to?’

Ponder on this:
There are three things that amaze me—
no, four things that I don’t understand:
how an eagle glides through the sky,
how a snake slithers on a rock,
how a ship navigates the ocean,
how a man loves a woman
(Proverbs 30:18-19)

Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable? (Proverbs 10:12) Sadly I ask myself ‘Will I love you as you are, even if you do not fit my mould and change as quickly as I would like you to?’

O to use our God given gifts wisely!!!

Luke 12: 48(b): From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked…

I always interpreted this verse to mean everyone who has been given a lot of resources will have to do a lot with it for the kingdom of God and similarideas like if you are in a position of authority much is expected of you (you get the gist). Today was different. I was studying Luke and got to this verse (Luke 12:48) and as I was reading I decided to check out what my study bible had to say about this.

To my shock and (I dare say) horror I realised that this verse refers to more than positions of authority or wealth. ‘much’ in this passage refers to everything deposited in you by God. Your talents (yes that closet singing you do, the little dance in front of the mirror etc), understanding (wisdom, awareness, logical thinking etc), passion for a cause, creativity, literary skills etc everything.. Every single thing we have in us is to be used to glorify God. Remember each of us must give account of him/herself to God (Romans 14:12) Therefore if we ignore the ‘much’ we have been given, we must give account to God for this. In other words we have to explain why we were too busy to bless people with our knowledge or why we didn’t think the world could be blessed with our music (you get the gist).

I urge you to search yourself and not let another day go by without using the gifts deposited in you to glorify God.

Hello world!

So I finally discovered something I’m passionate about to actually commit to writing about – my Christian walk.

I decided on the blog name praktik(ə)lē Christian as it could mean two things:

a. Almost Christian – (this is true since to be Christian means to be like Christ and I don’t know about you but I’m not always a true reflection of Christ. So that’s that one).

b. Practical ways to be Christian or view Christianity – (This particularly excites me as I tend to find reminders of my faith in random daily activities like waiting at the traffic light).

So really this is an avenue for me to share my thoughts on my faith and and hopefully encourage someone in theirs!!! Who knows…

p.s. praktik(ə)lē is the pronounciation of Practically
